How to Stream Tonight's State of the Union Address Online, No Cable Required
Tonight is President Obama’s final State of the Union address, starting at 9pm ET (6pm PT). While many major networks will carry it, you don’t need to rely on broadcast or cable to watch. Here’s how to stream it online for free.
We’ve talked about how to stream a bunch of the recent Republican and Democratic debates, but as this is Obama’s final State of the Union (and the media furor has implied it won’t be your average applause-fest) you may want to tune in to this too. Point your browsers, smart TVs, Chromecasts, and set-top boxes in these directions:
The embed at the White House’s site and YouTube channel will be the same (unless there are issues,) so if one isn’t working, try another option here. Like we mentioned, the address will also air on most major networks, although they’ll likely interrupt for commentary and commercials, so streaming online is your best bet there. Some of those networks (ABC News and NBC News, specifically) haven’t put up streams for the address yet, but they may stream live on their sites, so check if you’re having trouble with any of the above.
After the festivities are over, the President will be interviewed by a number of YouTubers, answering viewer questions. If that’s not your bag, check out the Republican response, delivered by South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, over on the House Republicans’ web site.
